O 1º Grupamento de Polícia Montada do 8º Batalhão de Ações Especiais de Polícia (BAEP) completou, nesta quinta-feira (25), 17 anos de atividades operacionais no Oeste Paulista.
Criado em 2008, em Presidente Prudente, por meio do Boletim Geral PM nº 003, o grupamento iniciou suas operações no dia 25 de setembro do mesmo ano, vinculado à Força Tática do 18º BPM/I. Em fevereiro de 2019, com o Decreto nº 64.109, passou a integrar oficialmente o 8º BAEP.
No início, a Cavalaria contava com nove policiais e nove solípedes, atuando principalmente em demandas ligadas a jogos de futebol e movimentos rurais. Atualmente, possui efetivo fixado de 10 policiais e 15 cavalos, ampliando a presença no policiamento ostensivo e preventivo em toda a região.
No primeiro semestre de 2025, a unidade realizou 558 abordagens a pessoas em atitude suspeita, efetuou três prisões em flagrante e registrou apreensões de drogas. Em Presidente Prudente, a Cavalaria concentra esforços no combate ao tráfico de entorpecentes na linha férrea e no reforço da segurança em locais estratégicos, como a área central e o Parque do Povo. Também atua em apoio a grandes eventos e operações especiais na área do CPI-8.
Além da função policial, a Cavalaria do 8º BAEP se destaca em ações sociais. Desde 2009, mantém parceria com a Universidade do Oeste Paulista (Unoeste), ofertando o programa Atuação Multidisciplinar na Reabilitação Equestre. Voltada a crianças, adolescentes e adultos com necessidades especiais, a iniciativa atende, em média, 16 participantes por semestre, contribuindo para o desenvolvimento e qualidade de vida dos beneficiados.
Com trajetória marcada pela dedicação e pela proximidade com a comunidade, a Cavalaria do 8º BAEP segue consolidando seu papel de importância no policiamento e no apoio social da região.
